ProFarm ProduceGrowing up on a farm granted Ryan and Shane Stonemetz a firsthand look at the injustices of the industrial-food market. The brothers watched their father and grandfather toil daily to make ends meet and subsequently swore off entering the family business. However, as the pair established their adult lives in Portland and Seattle, they realized that injustices live forever unless someone puts up a fight.
And so began ProFarm Produce, a small farm-to-customer enterprise that lowers prices for shoppers and increases wages for farmers by eliminating the middleman. The company started with nothing more than a 12-foot truck and a bed full of organic cherries, but it has since grown to a fleet of trucks thanks to an extra-potent fertilizer that's safe for automobiles' digestion. The expanding staff transports ProFarm's bounty to 20 area farmer's markets and various wholesale clients. ProFarm also participates in a CSA program that provides weekly boxes of fresh, local produce to participants in surrounding communities.

Karen employs a quintet of modalities-including hot-stone massage-to draw out tension, promote relaxation, and pacify the nervous system more effectively than shouting at it to calm down.

Every year, Pacific gray whales and wild king salmon make a point to return to the Oregon Coast. But there's another migration taking place on these gorgeous shores, one that delivers spa treatments, fine dining, shopping, and golf to a species of vacationer that has mastered the art of R&R: the educated resort goer. And you better learn the habits of these mystical creatures, because with this week's Escape to Salishan Spa & Golf Resort, you are one. You and a friend are migrating to this 250-acre gem nestled between Lincoln City and Newport for one night in a Premier Room ($149). After your journey, rest your tail in the largest and most sought-after room at the resort, complete with plush bath robes, Wi-Fi, a stone fireplace, a spacious bathroom, and a king-size bed featuring luxurious pillow-top bedding. Wake up and smell the fresh-brewed coffee at The Sun Room restaurant, where your $20 food and beverage credit will get you going in the right direction with everything from fresh seasonal fruit and homemade banana bread to Frangelico French toast with Oregon hazelnuts. Or, sleep in and use your credit at any of the resort's five diverse restaurants anytime throughout your stay. But you'll want to fuel up before hitting the resort's 18-hole, par-71 golf course, redesigned by legendary PGA pro and Oregon golfing legend Peter Jacobsen. Revered for its old-growth timber and spectacular ocean views, this is one of the few courses in the world where you can both score an eagle and spot one on the same hole. After a whale of a good time on the links-and a possible whale sighting on any of the seaside greens-take in a relaxing massage or facial at the resort's full-service spa. Next, enjoy wineries, casinos, museums, aquariums, beaches, shopping, and world-class sport fishing just minutes from the resort. Alas, like all good things, this Escape will eventually come to an end. But fear not: Like the salmon and whales, you'll soon return for another taste of this coastal paradise. Golf Resort with Ocean Views from Private Balconies
With the Mauna Kea volcano as backdrop, Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the Hapuna Golf Course to complement the dramatic rise from the Pacific shore to about 700 feet above sea level. Named one of the top 20 courses in Hawaii by Links magazine in 2011, the course sits on the sprawling grounds of the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. The championship course could be the Hawaiian retreat's most striking feature were it not for its beach-a pristine expanse of white sand lining the turquoise Pacific on the Big Island's Kohala Coast.
Each of the hotel's oceanfront rooms offers views of the water from a private lanai. The intimate balcony features stone tile floors, a quaint cafe table, and comfy lounge chairs. Back at ground level, you can choreograph underwater ballets in the heated pool or lounge on cushy chairs under coconut palm trees and white canopy umbrellas. Nearby, there's a small, secluded cove where giant sea turtles occasionally seek harbor and snorkelers set off to explore Hawaii's abundant marine life.
After a day of exploring the waterfront, you can cap your night with a traditional luau on the Mauna Kea luau grounds. As musicians pluck at steel guitars and hula dancers sway, diners feast on Hawaiian specialties including poi, sashimi, and roasted kalua pig.
Kohala Coast, Hawaii: Big Island Paradise Abounding with Adventures on Sea & LandThe Big Island's Kohala Coast offers a nearly limitless selection of invigorating aquatic adventures. Certified instructors at scuba-diving centers within 15 minutes of the resort lead underwater tours through crystalline waters inhabited by whitetip reef sharks, eagle rays, and bottlenose mermaids. Amphibious travelers can also board catamarans for treks to areas frequented by humpback whales.
About a 60-mile drive from the hotel, Akaka Falls State Park is known for its waterfalls nestled in lush Hawaiian rainforest that teems with wild orchids, bamboo groves, and draping ferns. The park's namesake Akaka Falls, reachable by a winding footpath, presents a majestic sight as it plummets nearly 500 feet into a bubbling ravine below.

Choose Between Two Options $25 for a 25-class pass (up to a $250 value) $45 for a 50-class pass (up to a $400 value)
Certified instructors guide students through the poses that make up the Vinyasa tradition, which emphasizes purposeful breaths, and classes held at 85-95 degrees promote a healthy sweat.
The value of this deal is derived from Yoga on Yamhill's donation-based cost structure, which puts the average suggested donation of a 25-class pass at $10 per class and the average suggested donation of a 50-class pass at $8 per class.
Yoga on YamhillAfter a decade spent honing his personal yoga practice, certified instructor Paul Terrell opened his donation-based studio to give anyone interested in practicing the ancient art access to a studio in which to participate. The storefront space that Terrell opened fosters a nonintimidating approach to yoga, substituting cozy exposed brick for mirrors and inviting yogis of all abilities to practice together during all-levels classes. Terrell and a team of 15 other instructors teach many of the classes in the flowing Vinyasa tradition, in which conscious breaths link together a continuous sequence of postures, and also presents students with the robust schedule's other styles, which benefit the body in various ways. Slower-paced Yin classes teach yogis to sit still in postures that last for three to seven minutes, allowing them to fully stretch the connective tissues and hide in plain sight of movement-detecting, visually impaired T. rexes.

Choppers weave their way through the air, offering breathtaking views of the Willamette River, South Salem Castle, sweeping vistas of vineyards, and a pterodactyl's-eye view of crop circles.
Introductory flight students will start their aeronautic instruction on the ground with a tutorial on controls and safety procedures. Windsurfers practice their craft for about three hours a day, while budding photographers spend almost all day in the field, hiking up to 5 miles to nab shots of Mt. Hood and stage high-fashion shoots of fish in Hood River. Smith Rock State Park serves as a part-time base camp for climbing campers, and high-adventure campers conclude their hiking, biking, and canoeing explorations with a trek up Mt. St. Helens. No matter what their chosen camp, each camper will have access to outdoor activities such as kayaking, biking, and volleyball.
The idea for Columbia Gorge Teen Camps came from Dr. Bob Hanson, Professor Emeritus at San Diego State University. Noticing a lack of outdoor camps, he founded Columbia Gorge as a place where teens could be enriched, challenged, and motivated by nature. His staff upholds his original mission through activities designed to build character and independence in kids on the brink of starting college, entering the work force, or telling their parents that they're ready to see rated-R movies.
