With quick, sure gestures, sushi chefs at Koto Teppanyaki & Sushi drizzle colorful sauces in intricate, linear designs, emblazoning plates of handmade sushi rolls with silhouettes of butterflies, dragons, and spiders. And this is only on the left side of the restaurant. Diners who choose the hibachi section on the right watch chefs theatrically flip morsels of steak, swordfish, and lobster teppanyaki on tabletop griddles.
New York native Kevin Lin and his two restaurant co-owners work to bring East Coast-style sauces and cooking techniques to Koto's traditional Japanese menu, according to Redwood City Patch. Amid walls the color of melted butter, servers pile tables with kitchen-prepared entrees, such as teriyaki chicken and sea bass or delicately breaded veggie tempura. And, in a private room, parties of up to 25 people can utilize a personal hibachi grill to prepare their own meals or send smoke signals to the waiter for more sushi.

Sumptuous Accommodations amid Mountain Terrain
The Resort at Squaw Creek's golf course looks out over lush prairies and mountainsides covered in pine trees. It's a gorgeous scene in sunny weather, but summer is technically off-season here. In the distance, you can see the six peaks of Squaw Valley USA, a sort of Shangri-La that served as the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. When the landscape is blanketed with snow, the mountains are dotted with skiers and snowboarders. The golf course is transformed for the season into the Nordic Center, leaving it crisscrossed with tracks left by dogsleds, cross-country skis, and snowshoes.
Whatever the season, The Resort at Squaw Creek serves as a convenient home base from which to enjoy the outdoors; it's tucked into the Sierra Nevada on Lake Tahoe's north shore. Hiking trails wind through the property, and on hand you'll find a private outdoor ice rink and an onsite fly-fishing center. Guests can also feel free to stop by the outdoor pool complex's plunge pool and 120-foot water slide and choreograph water ballets in its heated lap pool and three hot tubs.
Six Peaks Grille, one of the resort's four dining venues, serves up breakfasts of fresh fruit, lox, and a goldmine of pastries kept warm in white linens. The breakfast buffet allows you to load up on made-to-order omelets, bacon, french toast, and pancakes.
The resort's 405 rooms and suites underwent a $53 million renovation in recent years. The deluxe forest-view room has a marble shower and a grand picture window that overlooks Tahoe National Forest. In fact, the entire guest tower-where all the rooms are located-is sheathed in lustrous black glass to maximize views of the valley.
Squaw Valley USA: Hiking and Cycling Through Mountains on Lake Tahoe's North ShoreLocated about a 15-minute drive from North Lake Tahoe, Squaw Creek is situated amid some of northern California's most revered scenery and varied terrain. The resort rents out bicycles by the hour, including Marin cruisers for adults, Trek mountain bikes for kids, and tagalong carts for infants and beloved pet rocks. Use these to hop on Truckee River Trail, a gently rolling, paved path that follows a crystal-clear river 7 miles to Tahoe City. There, you'll happen upon a paved trail with views of the Lake of the Sky and access to Tahoe Vista's beaches 10 miles to the north.
Lupine and buckwheat paint the mountainside, and the High Camp here is a nice jumping-off point to hike on some dry, pebbly trails. If you're unaccustomed to the high altitude, you may find yourself easily winded on even short hikes; still, the 1.5-mile jaunt uphill to Emigrant Peak is worth the trip, as you get 360-degree views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada.
Quaint clapboard buildings housing shops and restaurants line the Village at Squaw Valley. One of these is PlumpJack Cafe, the brainchild of former San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom. In a dimly lit dining room, the restaurant serves seasonal contemporary fare such as the inventive ceviche cone, a feuille de brick cone filled with tuna, avocado, and ginger and topped with chili threads ($15).

Global YogaFor Global Yoga's owner, Mary Jarvis, yoga wasn't a lifestyle choice-it was a life-saving choice. After a near-fatal car accident, Mary returned to the yoga studio to practice Bikram yoga, eschewing surgery to relieve chronic pain she suffered from herniated disks for the healing poses developed by Bikram Choudhury. More than 15 years later, Mary's recovery serves as living proof of yoga's therapeutic power.
In the heated studio, yogis cycle students through Bikram's 26 poses, purging the body of toxins, calories, and the ghosts of old snowmen. In addition to boosting core strength, classes can diffuse tension created by everyday problems including job stress, overeating, bad posture, and aggressive lifestyles.

Cozy Boutique Hotel in Heart of Sonoma Wine Country
West Sonoma Inn & Spa stands amid 6 acres of Russian River Valley countryside in the heart of Sonoma wine country. The stylish boutique hotel pays homage to its lush natural surroundings by incorporating design elements drawn from the landscape, from its color palette of warm earth tones to the lobby's vaulted redwood ceiling. The inn also seems to evoke the wine country's spirit through its pebbled wine garden, where burgundy-tinted oak barrels provide a makeshift wall for guests sipping reds and whites in lounge chairs. Outside, the neighboring 100-acre vineyard stretches toward the hills in the distance.
As the sun dyes the open California skies rose, retreat to courtyard suites, where you'll find one king bed with a Pacific Coast comforter, either a fully equipped kitchenette with bistro-style furniture or a sitting room with a wet bar. Take in a similar view from massage beds at the inn's onsite spa. There, five massage therapists administer organic treatments ranging from cleansing sea-plant facials to the Russian River hot-stone massages.
Sonoma County: Majestic Redwoods and Scenic VineyardsLocated about an hour north of San Francisco, Sonoma County's gentle climate and rolling landscapes invite year-round recreation. West Sonoma Inn & Spa lies within walking distance of skyscraper-high redwoods and the canoe-friendly Russian River. A 25-minute drive to the craggy Pacific coastline takes visitors to unspoiled beaches where seals and pelicans easily outnumber people, making for lopsided outcomes in cross-species beach-volleyball tournaments.
Russian River Valley's most rewarding aspect may be its rolling roads dotted with family-owned wineries. The wine pass included with this Groupon gives access to free tastings and discounts at 16 vineyards handpicked by hotel management. Many of the local vineyards specialize in handcrafted wines and employ sustainable farming practices. Sample the apple dessert wine at Graton Ridge Cellars, then head over to Hook and Ladder Vineyards to smell the cranberry and vanilla flavors of its award-winning pinot noir.

Bicycles are machines propelled by your legs, much like a broken Roomba you just kicked out a window. Rage against the machines with this Groupon.
$69 for a Winery Bike Tour with Lunch and Tastings ($150 Value)The 4.5-hour VIP guided bike tour cruises through scenic Livermore Valley on Saturdays and Sundays from June 1 to November 1. Cyclists meet at Campo di Bocce (Saturdays) or Garre Winery (Sundays) to follow a minimum of two guides and one sweeper transport vehicle for a two-wheeled journey to at least two wineries.
During the tour, you will have a gourmet lunch with complimentary wine tastings and a chance to meet the winemakers who pour samples from reserve-barrel wines. You will also taste and learn about olive oils and balsamic vinegars. The day wraps up with a dessert and port tasting.
The guides design the tours for all fitness levels, leading groups along routes with minimal inclines. Throughout the tour, you can rehydrate with complimentary bottles of water, and the sweeper transport vehicle carries any bottles or purchases made at the winery as well as any cyclists too tired or too full from the tastings.
Bicycles are not included with this Groupon. You may ride your own or rent a mountain bike and helmet for $30.
Livermore Valley Wine & Cycle ToursThe history of wine in the Livermore Valley spans 250 years. Spanish missionaries planted the region's first grapes in the 18th century, and Robert Livermore sowed the first commercial vines in the mid-19th. These early efforts led to America's first international gold medal for wine at the 1889 Paris Exposition, when California grapes beat out bordeaux in the annual race to the top of the Eiffel Tower.
The guides at Livermore Valley Wine & Cycle Tours lead cyclists into this historic, scenic valley in which some 40 wineries currently reside. Rides between them follow moderate routes, letting peddlers soak in views of the canyons and ridges that rise and fall between the clustered rows of vines.

The site originally served as a camp for the Wappo Native Americans, who believed its mineral waters were sacred and imbued with healing properties. Today, visitors splash through these same waters in three natural mineral pools fed by geothermal springs, where park staff also teach basic swim techniques and advanced Marco Polo strategy to children 5-12 years old. Guests can also play on bocce-ball, basketball, and sand or hard volleyball courts, and stroll along natural paths meandering beside the creek, which has its own designated swimming area. C-O-N-S-C-I-O-U-S: The National Wake Up Tour kicks off at the Black Repertory Group Theater as it combines the forces of two legends known equally for their comic skills and unflinching social commentary. Fabled writer, Grammy-nominated comedian, and actor Paul Mooney pulls no punches as he puts history and the upcoming presidential election in his sharpened, sardonic sights. Drawn from a career with beginnings as a groundbreaking African-American circus ringmaster and leading to years of notoriety as a comedy writer, Mooney's words have filled the mouths of Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, and the cast of In Living Color. He is best known to modern audiences for his blistering work on Chappelle's Show, his standup act skewering tender subjects like an accident-prone luau master while drawing on a deep and heartfelt sense of history.
As a self-described "drum major for justice and equality," Dick Gregory found himself at the forefront of the civil-rights movement in the 1960s, during which he participated in countless protests and even ran for president. His career has been a unique blend of political activism and controversial yet insightful anecdotes. Hugh Hefner admired these courageous observations and jump-started Gregory into mainstream territory by having him perform at the Chicago Playboy Club in 1961. More than 50 years later, Gregory continues to regale audiences with an act more entertaining and educational than a college professor wearing a bear suit.

After a pretreatment consultation, the client relaxes as an FDA-approved Erchonia laser scanner glides low-light lasers over the waistline, back, hips, and thighs, emulsifying adipose tissue so that fat can sneak its way out of the body. The disintegrated lipid deposits, along with other bodily toxins, can then be absorbed by the body's obsessively tidy lymphatic system and expelled through the body's natural detoxification process and complex system of water slides. For optimal results, Norcal Medical recommends a series of six Zerona treatments, after which past patients have lost up to one pant size and an average of 3.64 inches.
Norcal MedicalThe physician-supervised staff at Norcal Medical focuses its energies on weight-loss treatments and dermal fillers. They consult with clients to find the best of five injectables to firm and hydrate their skin. Their medical-weight-loss center finds slimming strategies to suit clients of all ages, and Zerona laser liposuction helps achieve the results that diet, exercise, and constant fidgeting can't accomplish.Dr. Moshe Lewis presides over the clinic's celebrations of youth.

Choose Between Two Options $69 for an up to two-hour San Francisco Bay Highlights or City Night Lights tour for two (up to a $170 value) $139 for an up to two-hour San Francisco Bay Highlights or City Night Lights tour for four (up to a $340 value)
As they take in skyline views on the San Francisco Bay Highlights tour, participants listen to a narrated overview detailing famous sights, such as Jack London Square, Port of Oakland, San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, and The Palace of Fine Arts. The boat also circles around the bay islands, getting close enough to stick post-it-note messages on historic ships, such as the SS Jeremiah O'Brien and the USS Potomac. On the City Night Lights tour, the 28-foot custom-built vessel drifts along the waterfront, past Aquatic Park, under the Golden Gate Bridge, and around Alcatraz under the light of twinkling stars. At the end of the tour, the captain steers to AT&T Park to catch glimpses of the Giants game. Each tour includes personal flotation devices for each passenger, with up to 12 passengers on the boat.
Bay VoyagerThough Captain Charles Jennings' former life includes stints as first officer and tugboat engineer aboard several historic water vessels, he now exclusively leads daily tours of San Francisco Bay on his 28-foot custom-built, U.S. Coast Guard-approved rigid inflatable boat. He calls upon his previous maritime experience when passing sites such as the SS Jeremiah O'Brien, which he served on during the vessel's 50th anniversary voyage. He also regales passengers with the bay's history, legend, and official twitter account while the boat skims the water at up to nearly 40 miles per hour, courtesy of its 300-horsepower Yamaha engine.
Most tours operate on set routes, highlighting the bay's verdant islands, mooring sites of abandoned Gold Rush ships, and estuaries teeming with still-active cargo ships and lost Marco Polo players. However, Captain Jennings is willing to deviate from the set structures to suit passengers' interests. As far as passenger safety and comfort are concerned, he equips his boat with first-aid kits, motion-sickness remedies, dry storage for personal effects, and anti-exposure suits.

Laser technicians at Fremont Laser Med Spa's calibrate four different lasers to eradicate unwanted hair from virtually any skin type. After the skin is cleaned and shaved, the laser passes through the skin and targets the pigment inside the follicle to disable hair growth. Treatments range from 5 to 15 minutes for small areas to 30 to 40 minutes for large areas. See a complete list of treatment areas here.
Fremont Laser Med SpaAt Fremont Laser Med Spa, Dr. James Kojian oversees a team of laser technicians as they administer FDA-approved beautification services that keep skin looking youthful. The Issue: Neighborhood Revitalization Projects
Through its Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco is partnering with Parks 94124 to beautify Hilltop Park in Bayview by painting the skateboard park and picnic tables. If enough funds are raised, they'll also purchase new barbecue pits. These efforts are part of a larger goal to revive neighborhoods and enhance residents' quality of life with community parks, gardens, youth centers, and other projects.
The Campaign: Paint the Skate Bowl at Hilltop ParkIf this Grassroots campaign raises $720, then Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco can purchase 40 gallons of primer ($18/gallon) to begin painting the skate park. Each additional $12 donation will be used to purchase more primer and paint for the skate bowl, as well as for park benches and tables. If $3,090 is raised, then all additional donations will be used to purchase new barbecue pits for the park.
You can follow the progress of this and other Grassroots campaigns at the Groupon Grassroots website.
Habitat for Humanity Greater San FranciscoAs a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco partners with families, community volunteers, and donors to build affordable homes for residents with low incomes in San Francisco and Marin, and on the Peninsula. Eating right, working out, chanting fitness mantras to the annoyance of friends and family -- you're doing everything you can to get your legs in shape for summer. Unfortunately, no amount of time on the treadmill is going to eradicate those varicose veins. It's time to call the pros at Elite Vein Specialists on Post Street: With today's deal, an endovenous laser ablation treatment, injection sclerotherapy, and two required ultrasound exams is $2,800 (regularly $7,200). In this minimally invasive procedure (which takes about 30 minutes), laser fibers are inserted into the main trunk to close down and remove bulging, sometimes painful varicose veins (not to be confused with blue and green spaghetti-like veins, which are much smaller -- varicose veins are thick and often flesh-colored, and appear on the inner thighs, inner calves, and backs of calves). Four weeks later, surface branches on thighs and calves are treated with injection sclerotherapy; and progress is monitored with two follow-up ultrasounds. Here's a new mantra -- say it with us: "I will wear shorts. I will wear shorts."
