Modern Luxury Hotels Offering Electrifying Entertainment
Like many of the neighboring buildings in Atlantic City, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has a massive casino floor: 4,000 slot machines peal and blink, and there's a 100-seat racebook area where thoroughbreds gallop on an enormous video wall. But beyond the casino, you can also settle into any of six fine-dining restaurants, including a few bars and lounges, and multiple entertainment venues. Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, along with its adjacent boutique hotel, The Water Club at Borgata, has a massive complex loaded with possibilities where you can indulge impulses at your own pace.
Four of Borgata's fine-dining venues offer a three-course prix fixe menus: SeaBlue, Wolfgang Puck American Grille, Fornelletto Cucina & Wine Bar, and Izakaya. Each has their own signature entree: Fornelletto serves veal osso bucco ravioli, and SeaBlue's specialty is dayboat halibut with littleneck clams.
Elsewhere, you can take a shopping spree at the hotels' myriad boutiques or take in a show at The Borgata Comedy Club, where comedians deal out punch lines Monday-Thursday evenings at 9 p.m.
Collectively, Borgata and the adjacent Water Club feature 2,800 guest rooms and suites decked out in luxurious accouterments. Each of Borgata's classic rooms features one king bed, where you can lay back and peer through floor-to-ceiling windows. All rooms have a marbled bathroom with an oversize shower, too. Alternatively, you can opt for one of The Water Club's club rooms, which have views of the ocean.
Atlantic City, New Jersey: Casinos Lining Historical Beachside BoardwalkThe inspiration behind the board game Monopoly, Atlantic City has long fascinated travelers as a vacation destination, a place where you can relax on the beach or indulge vices in equal measure. No trip is complete without a stroll along the Atlantic City Boardwalk, which was built along the beach in 1870 to keep sand out of hotel lobbies. It's lined with shopping venues and restaurants.
During Prohibition, law enforcement was lax in Atlantic City compared to much of America, and the mob activity in town was immortalized on HBO's Boardwalk Empire. You can learn more about local history at the Atlantic City Historical Museum, located on Garden Pier. The museum ushers you into the past with a locally focused permanent exhibit that has artifacts, costumes, posters, postcards, souvenirs, and Miss America memorabilia.
A half-mile from the Garden Pier you'll find Absecon Lighthouse, New Jersey's tallest lighthouse at 171 feet. Walk up the 228 steps to the apex to come face-to-face with a fresnel lens, which has lit up the night for seafarers since 1857. It's also a great spot to get top-notch views of the Jersey Shore.

Hand & Stone Massage and Facial SpaAs a physical therapist with his own private practice, John Marco made sure that he kept abreast of related industries-particularly massage therapy, where he observed especially rapid growth. As the spa industry continued to expand, he noticed that hardly any nationally recognized brands resulted from that growth. After a period of careful research and planning, John decided to fill that niche with a spa based around convenience and affordability-Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa. Since its launch, Hand & Stone has expanded to more than 12 states and four planets. The spa's core concept is to offer massage, facial, and waxing services performed by licensed, certified, or registered professionals and offered at convenient times, seven days a week. Each location adheres to a traditional spa aesthetic with soft lighting, heated treatment tables, and plush linens.

Though India and Indiana are roughly the same word, their cuisine offerings are worlds apart. Find out the difference two letters make with this Groupon.
Choose from Three Options $9 for two weekday lunch buffets, valid Tuesday-Friday (an $18 value) $12 for two weekend lunch buffets, valid on Saturday and Sunday (a $24 value) $15 for $30 worth of takeout fare
Lunch buffets are from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who opt for the takeout option can sample dishes such as the Mirchi tandoori fish ($10.99), hakka noodles ($7.99), cut mirchi ($5.99), or tandoori chicken ($10.99).
MirchiMirchi's menu is populated with many flavorful Indian offerings, but its trademark dish is hyderabadi dhum biryani, a hearty rice dish that draws on both Mughlai and Andhra cuisines. Cooked via dhum-steamed over coals-the biryani sandwiches feature fillings such as steaming vegetables and traditional goat meat nestled in between layers of long-grained basmati rice. To complement biryani, the kitchen wraps crepe-like dosas around fragrant potatoes, roasts chicken in a clay tandoor, and delicately spices curries such as the chickpea-powered chana masala. Paneer-fried rice and other Indo-Chinese cuisine lend international flair to the menu like a UN meeting agenda written in glitter and puffy paint. Staffers can spice dishes to customer specifications to prevent undesired eye watering.

All-Inclusive Beachfront Resort in Caribbean
Every week, Lifestyle Crown Residence Suites throws a beachside welcome party to help new arrivals kick off their vacations with live entertainment, dancing, and a fireworks finale. This fiesta supplies a taste of what lies in store during a stay at the all-inclusive Caribbean resort, which sprawls across a tropical hillside like a mini metropolis. There's something for everyone-a playground and art club for children as well as discos, nightclubs, and bars for grownups. Eleven pools and two spas cater to laid-back vacationers, and onsite snorkeling and other watersports engage active guests.
One-bedroom suites are like a home away from home, complete with fully equipped kitchenettes and separate dining areas. Each suite includes a large balcony or terrace, some of which face the surrounding mountains. Suites are decorated with Caribbean-inspired decor, complemented by rattan, natural-wicker, and bamboo furniture.
A lot of the action at Lifestyle Crown Residence Suites centers on the two beaches it has direct access to. But the resort offers a broad range of activities inland as well. These include golf and yoga during the day and theater shows at night. Take advantage of the free shuttle service and convenient jetpack rentals to easily tour the facilities.
Dominican Republic's North Coast: Golden-Sand Beaches and Mountainside CitiesThe beach known as Playa Cofresi-named after Roberto Cofresi, a pirate dubbed "the Robin Hood of the Caribbean" for how he dispensed with his stolen treasure-runs along the Lifestyle resort's outer edge. The golden, 3-mile (5 km) stretch of sand reaches to the Ocean World marina, a habitat for dolphins, sea lions, and other marine life.
From the beach, it's only a 10-minute drive to Puerto Plata, the largest city on the Dominican Republic's North Coast. The mountainside city is known for its pastel-colored Victorian buildings with gingerbread fretwork-architecture that lends the town an Old-World charm. You'll also find some prominent cultural attractions, including the colonial-era Fort of San Felipe that was once used to ward off pirates. A couple of cannons still sit atop the thick walls of the fortress, and cannonballs, bayonets, and other 16th-century artifacts are displayed in the museum inside.

All-Inclusive Resort on the Caribbean Sea with Trapeze Lessons and Eclectic Dining
At Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach, "all-inclusive resort" means much more than unlimited dinners and mai tais. Right in between the beach and the resort, you can learn how to trapeze at an open-air training facility surrounded by netting. Head up to the trapeze platform for a free lesson, and you can see the Caribbean Sea stretch out for miles right next to the resort's private, 5,000-foot stretch of pristine golden beach lined with palapas below.
The trapeze lesson is one of many ways the resort goes beyond the typical all-inclusive experience. When you're not relaxing at the beach, the all-inclusive plan frees you up to try a scuba-diving lesson, take yoga classes, climb a rock wall in the gym, or take in some live entertainment.
The beachfront resort is spread out like a small village, lined with flagstone pathways, landscaped gardens, three pools, and a shady coral stone grotto. At night, you can stop by the discotheque and dance to spicy meringue music, or head to the theater to enjoy a live performance of musicals such as Moulin Rouge or Cabaret. As the night winds down, stop for a midnight snack at the 24-hour pizzeria.
Guests can enjoy unlimited food and drinks from five restaurants and four bars, including La Terraza, a breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot that serves an international buffet. You can get a nice view of the sunset on the waterfront patio of La Roca Grill, which serves tropical cocktails and fried calamari.
Beachfront bungalows are located steps from the ocean, so guests can fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves and the squeals of dolphins watching horror films.
Bayahibe, Dominican Republic: Renowned Scuba Diving with White-Sand BeachesBayahibe is situated on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic on the shore of the Caribbean Sea. The former fishing village remained relatively untouched by tourism until the late 1990s, when it became known for its white-sand beaches and scuba-diving sites, but it still has a tucked-away feel.
For diving and snorkeling, it's worth it to take a trip to Saona Island, an uninhabited nature reserve located just off the mainland. Tour operators on catamarans and motorboats will drop you around the area's sandbars and shipwrecks, which overflow with brightly colored fish.
About 20 miles (32 km) from the hotel, the cobblestone streets of Altos de Chavon are lined with artists' studios, galleries, and quaint cafes. The European-inspired village is also home to a 5,000-seat amphitheater, which has featured headlining shows from legendary artists including Frank Sinatra and Shakira.

Grim Philly
As darkness creeps across city streets, Grim Philly unearths Philadelphia's grisly past with a pair of highly researched, carefully developed twilight tours rife with sinister themes and risque adult content. Professor Joe Wojie-a regular lecturer on historical and macabre topics at Rider University in New Jersey-leads each two-hour odyssey, peeling back the corners of local folklore with stories and facts drenched in blood or terrifying amounts of grape jelly. In addition to its original Vampires, Sex, and Ghosts! tour, Grim Philly serves up spooks with Cemetery, Serial Killers, & Beer!, which whets appetites with gruesome tales of gangsters and psychopaths before stopping at Triumph Brewing Company for beer and food samples. No matter the tour, guests are ensured to pass a number of historic sites, such as Benjamin Franklin's grave and the street corner where Paul Revere ate an entire horse.

Historical Inn with Glass-Enclosed Porch Overlooking Lake
In the 19th century, some of the Northeast's industrial pioneers- including Silas March, an entrepreneur and New York state assemblyman-spent their idle days in a clapboard estate built along the shores of Mariaville. In 2003, husband-and-wife innkeepers Rick and Lorrie Runnels purchased this historical home and dubbed it the Mariaville Lake Bed and Breakfast. Since then, they've made extensive renovations while managing to preserve the building's casual, Federal-style elegance; it still has its original moldings, wood-burning fireplaces, and hardwood floors in some of the guest rooms.
The building is tucked into a woodsy area along the private, 200-acre Mariaville Lake, and it's a prime spot to get in some fishing and swimming. The B&B also owns two kayaks, one canoe, and one rowboat, which are all available for guests. Or feel free to take a stroll through the wealth of hiking trails that crisscross the property; one in particular leads to a beaver dam. In summer and fall, you can tell ghost stories and dry your laundry over a crackling bonfire in the evening.
The inn's five guest rooms are individually decorated, but all look out to Mariaville Lake. You have to use an old-fashioned skeleton key to get into the Vineyard and Lakeview rooms, as they are located in the original part of the house.
Come morning, the innkeepers serve a breakfast by candlelight in the formal dining room or on the glass-enclosed porch. The chefs prepare a different hot entree each morning, such as banana-stuffed french toast, veggie frittatas, or puffed apple pancakes. You can typically find house-made pastries, fresh juices, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, and tea.
Mariaville, New York: Small Town on the Shores of Mariaville LakeMariaville is part of the 18th century town of Duanesburg, located about 30 miles west of Albany. Thanks to its location along the 200-acre Mariaville Lake, the town became a resort community in the 1920s. Not a whole lot has changed since then; there's still only one traffic light in the city to date, and every high-school class is taught by the mayor.
The town of Schenectady offers a dose of culture fewer than 15 miles east. Aside from shopping and restaurants, you can find the historical Proctors Theater, which opened as a vaudeville venue in the early 20th century but sank into disrepair by the late 1970s. A group of concerned citizens rallied to restore the theater, which now hosts regular performances of ballets, musicals, comedians, and concerts.

Historical Civil War-Era Hotel on Georgetown's Circle
In 1836, a large brick structure was built in Georgetown, Delaware, on the town's circle, and it was soon converted into The Union Hotel. When the Civil War broke out, Union supporters co-opted the hotel as their unofficial clubhouse and would gather there before taking to the street to brawl with Confederate sympathizers. In the years since, the building also served as a county courthouse, a post office, and a bank before it was fully restored and reopened in 2008 as Brick Hotel On The Circle.
Each of the 14 guest rooms at Brick Hotel is furnished individually with antiques, such as period bedsteads and old-fashioned clocks. The Lazy Daisy features daisy stained-glass wall art, and the Mayor's Manor-a tongue-in-cheek nod to the innkeeper's short stint as Georgetown's mayor-incorporates a pineapple motif as a symbol of hospitality and a celebration of prickly fruit. In the original section of the hotel, a few of the rooms, including the Baker, offer views of the circle and a small fireplace.
After settling in, head downstairs to Brick Hotel's in-house tavern and restaurant, where you can enjoy a cold ale served with seared scallops or Maryland crab cakes.
Georgetown, Delaware: Charming Colonial-Era TownLocated in southern Delaware, across the Delaware Bay from New Jersey, Georgetown was laid out in a mile-diameter circle in 1791, starting with the town square. Historical buildings abound-opposite the Brick Hotel On The Circle is the stately white tower of the Sussex County Courthouse, and there are several more notable buildings within a short walk from the hotel. Downtown Georgetown is lined with shops and churches, including the 1794 St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Elegant Hotel with Onsite Restaurant and Indoor Pool
Delaware's small size belies its substantial importance to the Northeast region-Delaware was the first state in the union, for one, but it's also been a center of business and industry for centuries. Wilmington, located near the Christina and Delaware Rivers, was founded by Swedish immigrants in the 1630s and became the headquarters of numerous large companies; many American corporate mainstays, including DuPont, still make their homes here today. The Sheraton Wilmington South Hotel sits just off of I-95 in New Castle, which means it has easy access to Wilmington's historical sites nearby as well as the buildings of some native Fortune 500 companies.

New Castle, Delaware: 19th-Century Industrial History Along Scenic RiverfrontNew Castle is a tiny town 6 miles south of Wilmington; this stretch of Delaware is rich in history. After being founded by Swedish immigrants in the 17th century, Wilmington eventually grew into an important center of commerce. You can learn more about the town's long-standing industrial roots at the Hagley Museum and Library in the Brandywine Valley. The museum is the site of an early 19th-century gunpowder mill and the surrounding living community that was created by E.I. DuPont, the founder of what is now DuPont chemical company. At the 235-acre site, you'll see old-fashioned steam engines, water wheels, and working mills, as well as preserved buildings such as the DuPont family home and the mill workers' living quarters.
Wilmington is also known for its scenic riverfront, which is bordered by pathways and parks. Pack a picnic lunch, go for a stroll on the 1.3-mile trail, or climb aboard the moored Kalmar Nyckel, a replica of the European vessel that transported Wilmington's first Swedish settlers and first batch of lingonberry crepes.

A waterfall bubbles into a rippling fishpond, its surface reflecting the colorful string lights on a sprouting tree. Around the rest of the dining room, lattice-style wooden dividers arc and bend beside traditional Japanese screens and the green wisps of plants. To pair with these decorative touches, Takara mingles traditional cooking methods from several Japanese regions in a menu of tabletop hibachi, teriyaki, and delicately wrapped sushi.
Wall sconces cast an orange glow on sashimi and maki rolls of tuna, scallop, and yellowtail, and tableside hibachi chefs slice and mince salmon, lobster, and filet mignon on a heated grill. After scooping up udon noodles from a steaming, kitchen-prepared hot pot, guests can catch the game on several high-definition flat-screen TVs, or test the bartender by asking for the little-known drink "Water on the Rocks."
